> The characteristics of the third person also comprise three: first, the characteristic of realization; second, the characteristic of practice; third, the characteristic of stage. First, the characteristic of realization mostly shows in brief the purity of the three karmas. From "not slandering the true Dharma" onward is purity of speech; from "and \[not\] being defiled by adventitious afflictions" onward is purity of mind; from "not concealing relics" onward is purity of body. Covered by bones and flesh, the dharmakāya is concealed, which is called the tathāgatagarbha. Now the dharmakāya is revealed and the relics are not concealed, which is purity of body. Not discoursing on a self reiterates purity of speech. Receiving a body without worms reiterates purity of body. Being without fear when facing death is purity of mind. Next, from "What is meant by an anāgāmin?" onward clarifies the characteristic of practice, named "non-returning." What was spoken of above refers to what follows the fourth fascicle. Not returning to the desire realm, up to not returning to the three realms, is the outgoing practice. Being able to enter the desire realm without being defiled by the faults and afflictions of the twenty-five realms of existence is the returning practice. Benefiting beings in going and returning is circulating throughout. Third, from "is named a bodhisattva" onward determines the characteristic of stage.
