> Fifth, explaining the "secret meaning" also has three parts: the presentation, the explanation, and the conclusion. First, "being able to know" is the presentation. Previously there were no devious deviations of the two extremes, but there is the upright wisdom of the middle way; this wisdom is able to know the profound and secret meaning. Next, within the explanation, there are three parts: first, the fruit as profound and secret; second, the cause as profound and secret; third, the inconceivable as profound and secret. First, from "that is to say" downwards is the Tathāgata's mahāparinirvāṇa, which is the fruit as profound and secret. Next, from "all" downwards is regarding the cause. Third, from "further" downwards is regarding the inconceivable. The two lines from "there is truly no self, yet in the future karmic fruits are not lost" downward take occasion of non-existence to speak of existence. Next, the four lines from "all karmas" downward take occasion of existence to speak of non-existence. Taking occasion of existence and non-existence, it speaks of neither existence nor non-existence; taking occasion of neither existence nor non-existence, it speaks of the inconceivability of existence and non-existence. Inconceivable and further inconceivable, profound and yet more profound—it discusses the profound and secret in terms of the inconceivable.
