- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [29.10](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1767.29.10)

> From "Kāśyapa said: How about the future?" downward is the third section, resolving doubts. The doubt is: "The future does not yet exist; how can it produce goodness?" The Buddha's answer also has two parts: first, a simile, and next, its application. The first passage first brings up the similes of a lamp and the sun. If one clings stubbornly with unbending obstinacy, the lamp and the sun, not having yet appeared, cannot dispel darkness; but if \[understood as\] dependent origination and provisional designation, even before the lamp and the sun have arisen, they can dispel darkness. Next, from "The buddhadhātu is also like this" downward, it applies this: sentient beings all possess future goodness that is capable of producing the buddhadhātu.
