- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.224](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.1.224)

什曰：秦言人非人。似人而頭上有角，人見之言人耶非人耶，故因以名之。亦天伎神也，小不及乾闥婆。肇注同上。

> \[Kumāra\]jīva says: In the language of Qin, this means 'human-non-human.' They resemble humans but have horns on their heads; when people see them, they say, 'Is it human or non-human?' Hence they were named accordingly. They are also celestial entertainer spirits, slightly inferior to the gandharvas.
> Sengzhao's note is the same as above.
