注維摩詰經 1.258

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.258](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.1.258)

> \[Kumāra\]jīva says: When the mind is pure, the eyes are clear; hence he adduces the mind to verify the eyes. Furthermore, the eyes are the foremost of physical form, and the mind is the root of virtue; intending to praise virtue, he therefore extols his mind. 'Crossed beyond all dhyāna concentrations' explains why it is pure.
> \[Seng\]zhao says: The foremost in form is the eyes, and what governs virtue is the mind; hence the composer marks these two at the head of the hymn. The ocean of dhyāna concentration is deep, broad, and boundless; unless it were the Tathāgata's pure, true mind, none could cross it.
