- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.274](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.1.274)

> \[Seng\]zhao says: If one wishes to say it exists, existence does not arise of itself. If one wishes to say it is non-existent, when conditions assemble forms appear. When conditions assemble to form, it cannot be called non-existent; not being of itself, it cannot be called existent. Furthermore, because there is existence, there is non-existence—without existence, what would there be to be non-existent? Because there is non-existence, there is existence—without non-existence, what would there be to exist? Thus, existing by itself it does not exist; non-existing by itself it is not non-existent. This is the correct preaching of the Dharma King.
