- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [10.126](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.10.126)

> \[Seng\]zhao says: The ultimate meaning cannot be proclaimed in words; if one pursues words, one loses the ultimate. Moreover, the wondrous principle is ever singular, while verbal responses are without fixed direction; would it not be an error to seek to fix the ever-singular principle by means of directionless words? Therefore, relying on the meaning and not on the words is clarity of vision. \[Dao\]sheng says: One no longer chases after words, grasps at signs, and obscures the principle.
