- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.166](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.2.166)

> \[Kumāra\]jīva says: This clarifies that it is destroyed by impermanence, and is therefore suffering. From here down, he fully expounds the similes for suffering. Being a calamity is the suffering of illness. From the mound well downward, it broadly illustrates the immeasurable myriad sufferings of birth, old age, sickness, and death. \[Seng\]zhao says: Though bathed with fragrant waters and clothed in fine garments, if it is genuinely unreal, how could it endure for long?
