- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.70](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.5.70)

> \[Seng\]zhao says: The principle of equality admits of no divergent traces; of the lands in the ten directions, there are none that are not empty—why ask solely about the emptiness of one room? \[Dao\]sheng says: Things that can be acquired now and later discarded are naturally unreal; this shows that although the lands of all buddhas appear serene and stable, they too are empty. 'Buddha-lands' are lands where there are buddhas. He raises this as an example precisely because even when a buddha attains mastery, he still cannot make his own land existent, let alone other things! Moreover, because this is what human sentiment values, he marks it as the starting point for awakening.
