- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [8.74](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1775.8.74)

> \[Seng\]zhao says: The four elements are the four great elements. The space element is the great element of space. These five are that from which sentient beings are born, hence they are called 'elements' \[dhātu/bīja\]. Yet the nature of the four great elements has no past, future, or middle, being no different from the space element.
