- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.62](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1776.2.62)

> From here, the second \[part\] teaches the deportment that gathers practice. In this, there are altogether four pairs of clauses: The first pair of two distinguishes deportment with reference to the Dharma. Therein, "delighting in hearing the profound Dharma without fear" clarifies the deportment of study with reference to the taught Dharma. "Delighting in the three gates of liberation and not delighting in unseasonable \[realization\]" reveals the deportment of study with reference to the principle and Dharma. Emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness are the three gates of liberation, as extensively treated in a separate chapter, which should be discussed fully here. Although delighting in contemplating these, one does not, like the śrāvakas, unseasonably attain realization and abide in a lesser fruit; this is called "not delighting in unseasonable \[realization\]." The middle two pairs distinguish deportment with reference to persons. The earlier pair of two distinguishes the deportment of study with reference to fellow students: "Delighting in associating with fellow students" is the first clause; "having no hatred or obstruction toward those who are not fellow students" is the latter clause. The latter pair of two distinguishes the deportment of study with reference to good friends (kalyāṇamitra): "Guarding against evil friends" is the first clause; "drawing near to good friends" is the latter clause. Such is with reference to persons. The lower pair of two distinguishes the deportment of study with reference to teaching: "Delighting in a joyful and pure mind" is the mind free from faults; "delighting in cultivating the factors of the Way" is the mind that cultivates goodness. Moreover, a joyful and pure mind is the mind of faith and delight; "delighting in cultivating the immeasurable dharmas of the factors of the Way" is the mind of broad vows. The specific treatment above is concluded. "This is the bodhisattva's joy of the Dharma" is the general conclusion. The above is the first part, demanding the women from Māra and transforming and benefiting them with the Dharma.
