> Now, in explaining the distinctive title, it is divided into two points: first, previously explaining "Vimalakīrti"; second, clarifying the dharma that is preached. "Vimalakīrti" indicates the person; "that which is preached" is the inconceivable liberation. From this one knows that without the person there is no way to propagate the Dharma, and without the Dharma there is no way to manifest the person. "Pure Name" ascends to the stage of succession, his wisdom borders on the ultimate realm, and the teaching he preaches is none other than the inconceivable liberation. This sūtra thus designates both person and Dharma at the head of the teaching, which honors the person and esteems the Dharma.
