> Answer: As the Dazhidulun says: "If what is spoken by disciples of the Buddha, emanated beings, the gods, or ṛṣis is sealed by the Buddha, it is all called a sūtra." In this sūtra, the Buddha opens the central theme for Ratnakūṭa, discerning cause and effect in the buddha-land, and commands all the disciples to each recount how in former days they were rebuked by the Great Being, which the Buddha silently seals. Moreover, \[Vimalakīrti\] enters his room to discuss the path, holds the great assembly in his palm, and returns to the Āmrapālī grove, which is sealed and confirmed by the Buddha; therefore it is called a sūtra.
