### [4.64](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1777.4.64)

> A text such as the Avataṃsaka Sūtra is constituted by only two teachings: first, the distinctive teaching; second, the perfect teaching. Why is this? The distinctive teaching refers to the various bodhisattvas preaching practice cultivated through successive kalpas, cutting fetters through forty-two minds, with stages and practices graded and distinct; the perfect teaching clarifies that a single thought-moment is fully endowed with all practices, and from the initial ground one is fully endowed with the merits of all grounds.
