> "Yet taking birth \[...\] to take and practice it": second is praising the transformation of others. If asuras are separated out, there are six destinies. In the Tripiṭaka \[teaching\], one takes birth through vows retaining fetters, or uses supernatural powers to manifest bodies in the five destinies, transforming sentient beings in defiled and pure lands. In the common teaching, at the seventh stage the fetters within the realms are exhausted, and through vows upholding the remaining habit-energies, one manifests bodies in the five destinies, which is also birth through supernatural powers. At the stages of the separate \[teaching\] and above, and at the abodal stages of the perfect \[teaching\] and above, one attains immeasurable bodies in a single body; the pure, wondrous dharmakāya serenely responds to all, which is the power of the twenty-five samādhis perfuming birth in the twenty-five states of existence. Here, being those bound to one last birth, their loving-kindness and compassion darkly perfume them, and in response to capacities they manifest in the five destinies to benefit sentient beings. In terms of meaning, they also manifest bodies in the lands beyond the realms to transform those sentient beings. As for "acting as great physician-kings, skillfully curing all illnesses," having taken birth in the five destinies, their intent is to benefit beings and cure the illnesses of sentient beings. Contrasting the small to clarify the great: the bodhisattvas of the three teachings and those of the lower stages of the perfect \[teaching\] are all minor physicians; these bodhisattvas, their power and function neighboring the Buddha, are called great physician-kings, curing the illnesses of unwholesome karma within and beyond the realms. As for "dispensing medicine according to the illness," they use the four siddhāntas to preach the four Dharma-medicines, causing them to take and practice it, meaning sentient beings hear the Dharma, sever fetters within and beyond the realms, and attain the liberation of the noble paths of the Great and Small Vehicles.
