- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.37](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1778.3.37)

> "He accepted non-Buddhist paths without damaging right faith": he received and studied non-Buddhist paths in order to subdue beings; therefore it says "without damaging right faith." With internal faith unimpaired, he then delivered them by means of the right Dharma. The Dàjí \[jīng\] explains that although Pūrṇa sought to transform non-Buddhists, he was instead ridiculed and rebuked, whereas Mañjuśrī manifested the same \[form as them\] and went to transform them. Those various non-Buddhists had also met buddhas and heard the Dharma in the past, possessing internal roots of goodness; responding to their capacities, he led them into inconceivable practice, causing them to form the cause of the four lands.
