問：何以三教但破，釋但用圓？答：破為破執釋成實義。前教無人無行，教破皆無。圓教執破即教，人行宛然，故正約圓。此結釋真修如不生，即無智德，故不得記。

> Question: Why is it that the three teachings are only refuted, while the explanation only employs the Perfect? Answer: Refutation is to shatter attachment; explanation is to establish the true meaning. In the former teachings there is no person and no practice; when the teachings are refuted, all are absent. In the Perfect Teaching, once attachment is shattered, the teaching, person, and practice are fully manifest; therefore, it is properly in terms of the Perfect. This concluding explanation states that when the suchness of true cultivation does not arise, there is no virtue of wisdom; therefore, prophecy is not received.
