維摩經略疏 6.52

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [6.52](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1778.6.52)

> From "Why?" downward is, second, recounting the reason for being unworthy. The reason was his failure to recognize that the māra came disguised as Śakra. The text has five parts: first, residing in a quiet room; second, the māra coming disguised as Śakra; third, the māra coming and not being recognized; fourth, the māra furthermore offering women; fifth, showing disgust and suspicion and not accepting. As for the first passage: Jagatīṃdhara resided in quietude to avoid clamour and entered dhyāna to advance his practice. He is a mahāsattva of the dharmakāya; how would he need a birth body to enter the path? His trace conformed to expedient means as a model for beings; it was necessary to guide and advance \[them\], so he resided in a quiet room and manifested the cultivation of dhyāna-concentration.
