- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [8.11](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1778.8.11)

> From 'like a fifth great element' up to 'in this manner' are these five analogies; the second part explains contemplating sentient beings as empty according to ultimate truth. The preceding analogies analogized that contemplating sentient beings has no fixed nature, not preventing there being illusory, echo-like sentient beings seen through inverted \[views\]. Now, these five analogies explain that sentient beings are like turtle fur and rabbit horns, all ungraspable; not only are there no sentient beings, there are also no real phenomena—the path of language is cut off, and the sphere of mental activity ceases. Just as with a fifth great element and the like there is no such principle, this is contemplating sentient beings as entering the ultimate realm to the very end, not seeing any characteristics of sentient beings.
