> "Lion" (Siṃha) is the name of a fearless beast. As explained regarding the lion's roar in the \*Nirvāṇa Sūtra\*, he definitively proclaims the principle of the three truths with a fearless mind, taking his name from this. "Transgression and blessing are two": previously, good and ungood were treated in terms of cause, discussing nonduality for the cause. Now, clarifying transgression and blessing, transgression is named from the fruit, for transgression crushes the practitioner's body and mind; blessing is named from retribution of fortune. If one takes worldly transgression and blessing, this merely constitutes the nondual door of the Shared Teaching. Here we take the three realms as the fruits of wealth and pleasure, yet receiving a body in them is entirely called transgression; the two vehicles are called free of transgression because they are able to transcend the three realms, their bond of defilements having been severed. The \*Dàpǐn\* states: "The Mahānāga is called free of transgression"; freedom from transgression is blessing. Having transgression is saṃsāra, and being free of transgression is nirvāṇa; these constitute the two. Now, realizing that the nature of these transgressions and blessings is without bondage and without liberation—that the marks of the five heinous deeds are identical to bodhi—how could one seek liberation apart from this bondage of transgression? Thus one apprehends neither transgression nor blessing. Understanding this mark is entering the Dharma door of nonduality.
