> Fourth, regarding the three titles, there are two parts: first, dividing the sections; second, explaining sequentially, which has two parts: first, directly explaining the three titles, which has three parts: first, explaining Samyaksaṃbuddha, which has two parts: first, in terms of the conceivable; second, in terms of the inconceivable; second, explaining Tathāgata, also first in terms of the conceivable and next in terms of the inconceivable. Regarding "Regarding the principle of true suchness": this is the biased truth of the Tripiṭaka \[Teaching\]. Third, explaining Buddha, which follows the example of the preceding two explanations. The commentary's text is abbreviated, having clarified it in the preceding section on the inconceivable. In explaining the request for Dharma, "according to whether it is calm or chaotic": in calm, civil means are used, as in that land; in chaos, martial means are used, as in this land. Regarding "Having doubts about the provisional path": the Dàzhìdù lùn, fascicle 43, says: "Bodhisattvas are of two kinds: first, those with compassion who mostly act for the sake of sentient beings; second, those who mostly amass various merits. Those who delight in mostly amassing merits go to the one-vehicle pure land of Amitāyus. Those who prefer to mostly act for the sake of sentient beings go to places where there is no Buddha, Dharma, or Saṃgha, to praise the sounds of the Three Jewels." Now the bodhisattvas of that land are precisely the second kind of person; therefore they have doubts about the provisional path.
