> Eighteenth, manifesting in the Brahma heavens. 'The eighteen Brahma heavens': the first, second, and third dhyānas have three heavens each, and the fourth dhyāna has nine heavens; all are free from the defilement of desire, and are collectively designated 'Brahma.' 'Admonishing them with superior wisdom': Jingxi states: 'As for the factors of dhyāna contemplation, they are wisdom but not superior; Brahma \[beings\] have also previously attained them and do not hold them in high esteem. Therefore, he manifests the four kinds of world-transcending superior wisdom, pure dhyāna contemplation, and the immaculate dhyāna, which are comprehensively luminous and exceptionally superior, cultivating them upon the foundational \[dhyānas\] without being attached.'
