> Third, the perfections. Regarding "the six perfections of the four teachings are as explained before," Jingxi says: as explained earlier in the "Buddha Land" \[chapter\], using these as practices to urge aspiration, therefore it had to be thus. Regarding "or opening the six into seventy or a hundred," seventy is fully as recorded earlier. Regarding "opening into a hundred," Jingxi says: among the ten, each mutually supports the others. Regarding "eighty thousand, etc.," in contrast to samādhis, afflictions, dhāraṇīs, and so on, all are called eighty thousand; since those eighty thousand all reach the other shore, they obtain the name. Regarding "all pāramitās," every single practice and every single mind reaches the other shore.
