> Next, we explain the principle of entering the gate of nonduality. Speaking of a "gate," there are five meanings: First, the most wondrous, empty, and pervasive identical essence constitutes the gate; second, to distinguish it from other dharmas whose portals are distinct, this is the Dharma gate of nonduality and not any other gate; third, to guide beings into awakening, it is termed a gate; fourth, pervading and generating the cognition of contemplation, it constitutes a gate; fifth, because the principle gives access to the teaching, it is named a gate. These \[latter\] four all receive their names from another.
