- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.7](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1782.3.7)

> Commentary: Within this single chapter, there are three major textual divisions: first, identifying the person capable of enacting good skillful means; next, from "having previously made offerings" downward, discussing his real virtues; and later, from "in order to mature sentient beings, through good skillful means" downward, manifesting his provisional traces. This is the first \[division\]. Within it there are four \[elements\]: first, dwelling place, the city of Vaiśālī; second, stage of practice, a great bodhisattva; third, lineage, Licchavi; fourth, name, Vimalakīrti. What is missing in the older translation can be known by comparing and searching. In places that do not concern cardinal tenets, fearing to weary of verbose text, I will not compare and differentiate further.
