The first is emerging from suffering; the latter is realizing quiescence. The older translation says 'delighting in leaving the five desires', which is extremely narrow; now, leaving the three realms makes it broad. A mind without reliance and without abiding regarding cognitive objects, a mind unattached, is precisely correct wisdom realizing and penetrating all phenomena. If the mind relies and abides, it is not correct realization. Therefore the Prajñā\[pāramitā\] says: 'One should give rise to a mind that does not abide anywhere. If the mind has an abode, that is no proper abode. Therefore the Buddha says that the bodhisattva's mind should not abide in form when practicing generosity,' and so forth.
