> Commentary: This presents a simile. According to the Guan Fo sanmei hai jing, the wish-fulfilling jewel is the heart of the garuḍa king; when a cakravartin appears in the world, it serves as his jewel. If there is no cakravartin and it enters the sea, the ocean dragon king uses it as the jewel that pacifies the sea. The Dazhidu lun says: 'It is the Buddha's relics (śarīra), which at the end of the kalpa transform into wish-fulfilling jewels to benefit sentient beings; relying on the jewel, whatever is needed can be produced.' The jewel of great wisdom and concentration is also like this.
