> Again saying 'I also, through such causal conditions' means that the Tathāgata also, seeing that those entities are impermanent, cultivates permanence to reveal the noble realm of self-realisation, and only afterwards knows their impermanent nature; therefore he says that their permanence is causeless. Moreover, if one were to establish permanence and incomprehensibility by the false causes and false lakṣaṇas of the tīrthikas, then the nature of their causal svalakṣaṇa would only have verbal expressions without real meaning; hence it is said to be 'identical to a hare's horns.' From 'Those tīrthikas' downward concludes the faults, which in brief are four: verbal vikalpa is the first; having no share in their own causal lakṣaṇa is the second; not attaining the lakṣaṇa through self-realisation is the third; and mentally deliberating and constructing permanence is the fourth. Hence it is said that they 'possess such faults.'
