> "Abandoning the views of arising, abiding, and ceasing, meaning like a dream and so forth" resumes what was contemplated previously. From "seeing that consciousness does not arise" onward directly indicates the abandonment of views. It means that, by virtue of the preceding contemplation, internally one sees that mental consciousness does not arise, and externally objective conditions and dust do not accumulate; when each and every one is investigated, its intrinsic nature is unfindable, hence it is said to "not arise." While not arising, it appears to arise because conditions arise from false imagination within the three realms. Because internal and external dharmas share an identical principle, they are all unfindable, and thus are free from intrinsic nature. Because they are free from intrinsic nature, both conditioned arising and views are completely quelled. Attesting and knowing in this way that all dharmas are like an illusion is precisely the endurance of the non-arising of dharmas. When there is no arising, there is no ceasing; therefore, there is none among the views of arising, abiding, and ceasing that is not abandoned.
