> Dreams, illusions, and so forth are analogies for the dharmas of the world appearing without a cause, their characteristics being fundamentally empty, which also reveals the meaning of non-arising. What is refuted and established is: subduing the tīrthikas' doctrines that assert a cause, and proclaiming the meaning of non-arising. However, the tīrthikas originally conceptualize arising without a cause, yet why is it said they 'assert a cause'? Because what they call non-arising and non-cessation is a false conceptualization that is in truth the cause of saṃsāra, hence he rebukes it as a 'doctrine that asserts a cause.' When external doctrines are destroyed, the true Dharma flows forth, and the doctrine of non-arising is proclaimed blazing forth, terrifying those tīrthikas upon hearing it.
