> Ninth, the gate of the interpenetration of nature and characteristics: the exhaustion of illusory characteristics does not hinder their subsistence, and the manifestation of the true nature does not obstruct its functioning; thus, characteristics are immediately the true without characteristics being destroyed, and the true is immediately characteristics without the true being altered. Nature and characteristics are both fused, two and yet non-dual. A sūtra states: "Sentient beings are immediately the dharmakāya, and the dharmakāya is immediately sentient beings; dharmakāya and sentient beings are one in meaning and different in name." However, the purport of their being one in meaning should be deeply contemplated.
