> Question: The Dharma-nature is that which is deluded about; why is it two? Why is it four? Answer: The Dharma-nature follows the provisional and the real, therefore it is two; the Dharma-nature follows faculties and conditions, therefore it is four. If one realizes this principle, and treats seeing marks, hearing the Dharma, and so forth likewise through these four kinds of discriminating examinations, there will be no error or confusion. Thus we know that the four noble truths of the one mind horizontally pervade and vertically penetrate; there is no principle not exhausted, and no phenomenon not fully provided for.
