注大乘入楞伽經 5.4

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.4](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1791.5.4)

如來為除眾生心病故，以名句文身方便說法，如以毒攻毒也。若諸愚夫猶著名句，不悟實義無解脫期，譬如香象溺淤泥耳。

> \[The commentary says:\] To eradicate the mental illnesses of sentient beings, the Tathāgata used collections of names, phrases, and syllables as skillful means to teach the Dharma, like combating poison with poison. If fools still cling to names and phrases and do not awaken to the true meaning, there is no time of liberation, just like a scent-elephant drowning in mire.
