- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.289](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1794.1.289)

> Now, one who wishes to emerge from the suffering of birth and death and attain great sovereignty must firmly uphold the practice of the precepts and completely sever craving and desire. It is like beads suspended high up: plucking them one by one, if the mind does not slacken, the beads will surely be exhausted. If practitioners eliminate their multitude of evils and accumulate good deeds, persisting over a long time without backsliding, all evils will be completely severed, and then they will attain the Way.
