> Deluded regarding the real, one gives rise to the false, falsely seeing sentient beings. The substance of the false is fundamentally empty, entirely original enlightenment. The mind-ground cannot be defiled by the false, hence it is called "pure". Thus the treatise says: "All sentient beings are originally eternally abiding and entered into nirvāṇa." Yet sages realize this realm, directly called "abode and maintenance". Ordinary persons do not know of this identity, so it merely points to the "ground of enlightenment".
