> Here translated as 'the Compassionate One', compassion being his clan name. His personal name is Ajita, translated here as 'Invincible', because his superior virtues surpass others. Now he is addressed by his clan name, simply called Maitreya. Through this section, the root of craving is deeply probed and subtle delusions are swept away, showing that the practice and realization across five lifetimes still belong to saṃsāra. Maitreya is an equal enlightenment bodhisattva bound to one last birth, symbolizing that by eliminating subtle afflictions and habit energies, one directly attains round and luminous correct enlightenment.
