> Regarding 'Furthermore, Lord of Secrets! If a bodhisattva cultivating the bodhisattva practice of the mantra gateway recites \[the mantra\] three lakṣas to bring about accomplishment with such items as a banner (ketu), sword (khaḍga), parasol, sandals, cintāmaṇi, as well as añjana ointment, rocanā, and the like, they will also attain siddhi': next, the substances to be accomplished are explained. That is, as above, one first recites one lakṣa, and after reciting for the next two months one constructs a maṇḍala; placing these substances to be accomplished in its center, one performs recitation, and only after three more lakṣas is it accomplished. The deities' positions and so forth in this maṇḍala are identical to the mahākaruṇāgarbha, hence they are not described here. One merely places the substance one wishes to accomplish in the center and places Mahāvairocana in a directional corner (this was definitively ascertained through questioning). For the banner, bamboo is used as the shaft, wrapped with clean fine cotton cloth, with streamers hanging down about one zhang like a pennant, shaped with tiers above, upon which a vajra is placed. As for the sword, wrought iron is used for the blade and hilt. Parasols have superior, middling, and inferior grades, namely gold, silver, and peacock \[feathers\]. Sandals are made of leather: first thoroughly perfumed and washed until completely pure and odorless, then treated with medicinal substances until fire cannot burn them and they are extremely fragrant, only then are they suitable for use. For the wish-fulfilling \[gem\], one takes a pure, fine gem and places it atop the banner. For the eye ointment, one makes it using añjana; of this añjana there are two kinds, one of which is extremely light and floats upstream against the current (inquire further). As for ox-bezoar (rocanā), there are countless other medicinal substances, namely azurite, cinnabar, realgar, orpiment, and the like, all of which can be accomplished. In addition, vajras and countless other articles can also be accomplished. The comprehensive root text explains the ritual procedures in detail, and the Susiddhikara also provides the sequence. If the sandals are accomplished, one can ride them and travel through the buddhafields without hindrance. If the eye ointment and the like are accomplished, one sees the buddhafields of the ten directions and can soar and travel through the buddhafields of the ten directions. The rest can be understood accordingly. Furthermore, there are paintings made in the forms of various birds and beasts: taking any one of them and performing the rite to accomplishment, one will be able to ride it and travel to the fields of the ten directions at will. Or, by applying the rite to boys or girls, one can also cause them to be accomplished as attendants to accompany one in traveling through the fields of the ten directions. In the Western regions there was a man who achieved accomplishment, and he led five hundred people ascending into space and departing, no one knowing where they went. When this rite is accomplished, one is a vidyādhara ṛṣi. These items are made according to what one's mind desires. When reciting, one also attains visionary realms instructing one to make such-and-such items. Or one may direct the mind to visualize these items, and they will likewise be accomplished.
