Form a fist with the right hand (with the thumb extended) and extend the wind finger (index finger) erect, placing it level with the space between the eyebrows, touching the space between the eyebrows with the fingertip. What is called 'equipoise' means assuming the form of Bhṛkuṭī: the face appears wrathful, while the mind abides unmoved in one realm. This great seal of all buddhas can manifest the Tathāgata's awe-inspiring and tremendously powerful strength, terrifying and subduing all obstacle-makers and causers of difficulties, and can also fulfill all the wishes of all sentient beings. When the practitioner forms this seal, none of the obstacle-makers fail to scatter and flee in the four directions, and even the armadas of the devas and māras of great strength naturally retreat and disperse. When the Tathāgata realized the path to bodhi, it was with this seal that he was able to subdue the various māras.
