> The sūtra says: "He does not produce any dharmas." The various five aggregates rely on afflictions, and afflictions rely on karma; these various karmas are all generated by body, speech, and mind. If divided according to body, speech, and mind into the ten paths of wholesome and unwholesome karma, tracing their strands reveals them to be immeasurable and boundless. Therefore, with the three actions, whenever there is practice, there is the conduct of progressive striving; one who loses progressive striving falls into inverted conceptions. Due to inverted conceptions, immeasurable marks are produced; obstructed by these marks, one does not attain the Buddha's unobstructed wisdom. Now the practitioner deeply contemplates the ten clauses of conditioned arising and clearly understands that the three actions are ultimately unborn; the dharmatā is naturally so, eternally free of activity. This is called abiding in the unconditioned precept. Since such a pure precept is not even something produced by the Tathāgata, how much less could one abiding in this precept produce any dharmas?
