- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [5.23](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1796.5.23)

> Regarding the verse stating: “As for the remaining deities of the Śākya clan, / Their mantras, seals, and altars, / And all the teachings spoken \[by them\], / The master should explain them fully”: this refers to items such as the Buddha's alms-bowl, the monk's staff seal, and so forth in the Śākya section. There are very many of this sort, and the sūtra does not mention them all. One simply follows the empty spaces in this direction, selects what is taught in other sūtras, and places them where convenient. Even if they are omitted, there is no fault. However, the foremost deities and others set forth in the sūtra must each be painted in accordance with the rules, without omission or error. The various directions of the Lotus section, Vajra section, and so forth are understood by analogy to this.
