> "The previous light came from the mouth, while this light comes from the chest, because the preceding text revealed the mind from speech, whereas this text gives rise to seeing from the mind. The svastika symbol represents the outflow-free nature and virtue; in Sanskrit it is called svastika, which here means 'having bliss,' namely, the mark of auspicious, supreme virtue. One who has this mark will surely experience peace and bliss. In the second year of the Changshou era of Empress Zetian, this character was temporarily fashioned and placed upon the Heavenly Axis, with its shape like this: 卍, pronounced 'wan'; the front of the Buddha's chest has this shape. Among the eight marks, this is the very first, meaning the accumulation of all auspicious ten thousand virtues."
