- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [4.331](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1799.4.331)

> If one clings to the assertion that the true mind can be attained and discrimination can be eliminated, then the bodhi mind arises and the mind of arising and cessation ceases; this is merely arising and cessation, and no bodhi arises. Only when there is no cessation of arising and cessation is there the effortless \[state\]. As the \*Perfect Enlightenment Sūtra\* states: 'Both having illumination and having awakening are called obstacles. Therefore, the bodhisattva constantly awakens without abiding; illumination and that which illuminates are simultaneously extinguished.' This reveals the realization of the principle of non-arising on the \[bodhisattva\] bhūmis, attaining the effortless \[path\].
