> Seeing, hearing, sensing, and knowing, when confused, become clouded eyes; all dharmas in the three realms are flowers in space. The substance of seeing and hearing is empty and fundamentally unobtainable; moreover, it is compared to an illusion. Therefore the Awakening of Faith says: 'The three realms are false and deceptive, made by mind alone.' The text above says: 'Seeing, hearing, sensing, and knowing are conditions of false disease; hence there are all the defiled realms of the ten directions. When the cataract is removed, the flowers vanish; when hearing is restored, the dust dissolves, and the wondrously enlightened bright mind clearly becomes perfectly pure.' This is realization in stages.
