> The first two lines conclude the preceding; from 'fully endowed' onward directly clarifies \[this practice\]. Here there are three meanings on account of which there is joy: First, because of being fully endowed with the boundless virtues of a Buddha, as Avalokiteśvara states: 'Because I also attained this perfect penetration and cultivated and realized the unsurpassed path, I was also well able to attain four inconceivable unconditioned wondrous virtues.' Since it says 'inconceivable,' it refers to the boundless virtues of a Buddha. These wondrous virtues had not been attained previously, but now he is himself fully endowed with them; hence it is called 'joy.' Second, there is joy because sentient beings receive conversion. 'The ten directions' means manifesting bodies in the ten realms to benefit sentient beings. 'Accords' has two aspects: 1. Sentient beings belong to unequal kinds of destinies, with differing faculties and practices; the bodhisattva accords with them through forms and through preaching—this clarifies the accord of the transformer. 2. The bodhisattva manifests all kinds of transformations, and sentient beings accord with them, each and every one receiving conversion and all obtaining benefit—this clarifies the accord of those transformed. When both subject and object accord, capacity and response both give rise to joy; therefore it is named after this.
