> They focus their intent on this, hence it is said, "merely able to restrain their bodies," etc. "Having neither thoughts nor memories": by cultivating the six practices, they revile the lower desire realm as suffering, coarse, and an impediment, and aspire to the upper form realm as pure, wondrous, and free; thus the afflictions of the desire realm are subdued, which is called "love and defilement do not arise." Because of this, when their lives end they are immediately born in the form realm, hence it is said, "do not linger in the desire realm." Here, coarseness and suffering do not arise, and pure signs appear, which is pure meditative absorption. Relishing this and taking birth, they are called the Brahmā retinue, which is incurred by ordinary beings cultivating the six practices to subdue afflictions.
