> Regarding whether it is lost: First, it means determining to abandon it. The Daśādhyāya-vinaya says: 'When the bhikṣus abandon the saṃghārāma and leave, generating the thought never to return, this is called relinquishing the boundary.' The Dazhidulun says: 'Abandoning it for a single night, there is no boundary.' Question: Why do the earlier passages in the Samantapāsādikā all say it is not lost? Answer: In those cases, they did not generate the thought of permanent abandonment, hence it was not lost; here, what is said to be lost is because they formed the intention of not returning and had the thought of relinquishing the boundary, hence it is lost. In all these texts it speaks of abandonment. In the Dharmaguptaka: 'Repairing an old saṅghārāma does not lose the pure ground.' Furthermore, it says: 'If in doubt, one should dissolve it and demarcate it again'; thus we know the boundary remains. If one performs a procedure to relinquish robes, food, or the personal boundary, all three are relinquished together.
