> Precept thirty-three: eating in a separate group (gaṇabhojana). However, as for eating in a separate group, according to the text of this Vinaya, it only explains individual invitations and does not discuss failure to assemble. Hence the text states: 'Having invited only three people to eat, we must not form a separate group.' If based on the narrative origin (nidāna), it then explains begging for food; hence the text states: 'In order to accommodate difficult-to-train persons, they formed a separate group on their own.' If based on the Sarvāstivāda-vinaya-vibhāṣā: it explains failure to assemble within the boundary; it also explains that both individual invitations and individual alms-begging may involve failure to assemble, and monastic rotation also involves failure to assemble.
