> 'Drawing analogies' means either that citing precedents is aberrant (such as establishing marks for a minor boundary by citing the Mahāsāṃghika's boundary of one fathom for relinquishing robes as a precedent, or obtaining the precepts without robes and bowl by using the four alternatives of a preceptor who has broken the precepts as a precedent, etc.), or that taking categories is unequal (such as using the Mahāsāṃghika's procedure for blessing robes, or using the karman for dissolving a major boundary to dissolve a minor boundary in order to dissolve an ordination platform, etc.). Using whatever one hears immediately without investigating whether it is permissible or not is why it is called 'scant discussion'. Stubbornly clinging in foolishness all one's life, unable to turn toward the good, is why it is called 'generating habitual assumptions'. 'Scant' glosses 'few'. 'Collection' means an accumulation, indicating its great number.
