> In \[the section on\] loss through abandonment: It must be that one deliberately abandons it and departs, never to return later, with not a single person dwelling there, before it is called losing the boundary. The Commentary states: "Although it is not \[by\] a ritual action, the principle of the Saṃgha has been severed." It also cites the Sūtra of Mañjuśrī's Questions: "Down to having even one upāsaka staying overnight, it is called not lost." In the text, it first cites the Daśādhyāya-vinaya, clarifying that one must formulate the thought; thus we know that if one does not formulate it, it is not lost. The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa limits it to one overnight stay; thus we know that if one returns before staying overnight, it is also not lost.
