> In explaining the excusing conditions, the first heading has six. First, explaining the hot season: the forty-five days after spring are from the first day of the third month to the fifteenth day of the fourth month; the first month of summer is from the sixteenth day of the fourth month to the fifteenth day of the fifth month; totaling seventy-five days, this is called the hot season. The five conditions, such as illness, are all measured by the extreme lower limit as the scope of exception. Examining the intention of the teaching once again, it is merely to restrain inferior individuals from indulging excessively in body care; because it is not a major fault, it is accommodated according to circumstances. Below, the \*Sarvāstivāda Vinaya Vibhāṣā\* is cited to specifically illuminate the first condition, which is identical to the explanation above. Although the heat in different regions arrives early or late, seventy-five days is fixed; hence it says to use this limit.
